Savoury `cakes`

So shame on me.

I`m not going to make excuses but I feel completely overwhelmed, where I live during the past three weeks was the whole world joined in a mass crazy feast.

This indeed reflected on my work, on me and on my writhing..

I made my case and to redeem myself I`m going

to present you two recipes.

Basically the same, but one for the veg eaters and one for the meat eaters.

Salty cake or savoury cake call it as you fancy, a great snack, lunch or even lazy dinner.

For the veggie one you will need


2 cups of whole wheat flour

salt, pepper

3 dried tomatoes cut in small

2 tsp. baking powder


1 onion chopped

200 gr. camembert cheese cut in small

50 gr. butter softened

1 tbsp. pesto verde

200 gr. yogurt

Just like when you make muffins put all of your dry ingredients in a bowl and your wet ingredients in a separate one mix a little.

Preheat the oven on 180 C.

Line a cake form with baking sheet or spray it with a non stick spray.

I made this one in a Gugelhupf form  as a joke to see the reactions of the people if you don`t have one it is not crucial.

Combine the wet and the dry ingredients mix but do not over mix.

Pour the batter in your form and bake on the lowest rack in your oven.


Meat one


3 eggs

200 gr. yogurt

100 gr. gorgonzola cheese cut


1 tsp. baking powder

100 gr. smoked ham cut in bits

1 1/2 whole wheat flour

tarragon, salt , pepper

Same procedure applies as above for the meat version.

Of course as we are used to these are only suggestions as your cake can taste like, but these are the basics.

One warning it can be that the cake looks baked from the outside but in the inside still raw, in this case lower the temperature and bake longer.

No need to convert to raw food eater.

In the ideal case it will take about 40-45 min. to bake.

Serve this with salad, take it in a lunch box or picnic basket…

The choice is yours.

A little in a rush recipe but I promise there are many tasty ones to come…
